1971 Yamaha CT1C 175 Enduro

Way back in ancient history, I took holiday and paper route money and bought myself a beast of a dirt bike. Fiberglass tank and fenders, over sized Fox Shocks, re-enforced frame... a lot more than my preteen body could handle! It was a Yamaha, it had CT1 stamped on the engine, and had grind marks on the frame where the serial once lived. I always assumed it was a 1971, but now that I know a little about these bikes, it was a 72 or 73 since the CT1 serial and reeds.

I've always had the need follow my own path, and began looking for a bike to tear down and build up as my own. I wanted 2-stroke... all else was up in the air.

After reading a few forums for info, I decided I was looking for a 1968 to 1973 Yamaha Enduro with the intent of making it a street bike. Very much for the street, but also able to hit a lazy trail or dirt road from time to time. Here is a sampling of some of the bikes inspiring my plan
